Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in publishing with Casco Bay Celtic Press! We are excited to discover new voices and share compelling stories rooted in Irish and Celtic heritage. To ensure a smooth submission process, please carefully review our guidelines below.

What We’re Looking For

Casco Bay Celtic Press is dedicated to publishing works that celebrate, explore, and preserve Irish and Celtic culture, traditions, and history. We welcome submissions in the following genres:

  • Fiction: Novels, novellas, and short story collections that delve into themes of Irish life, folklore, diaspora experiences, and Celtic mythology.
  • Non-Fiction: Memoirs, biographies, historical accounts, essays, and cultural studies related to Irish and Celtic heritage.
  • Poetry: Collections that reflect the rich lyrical tradition of Celtic poetry, exploring themes of identity, nature, and the human experience.
  • Children’s and Young Adult Literature: Stories that introduce younger readers to Celtic myths, legends, and cultural traditions.

We encourage submissions from both established authors and new voices.

How to Submit

Please use the online submission form or provide the following via email:

Cover Letter

Introduce yourself and your work. Include a brief biography (150 words max) that highlights your writing background, previous publications (if any), and your connection to Irish or Celtic heritage. Provide a concise summary of your manuscript (300 words max), including the genre, word count, and a brief overview of the plot or theme. Explain why you believe your work would be a good fit for Casco Bay Celtic Press.

Manuscript

  • Fiction and Non-Fiction: Submit the first three chapters or the first 10,000 words, whichever is more appropriate. Include a full synopsis (2 pages max) that outlines the complete story or content structure.
  • Poetry – Submit a selection of 10-15 poems from the collection.
  • Children’s and YA Literature

Submit the full manuscript for picture books or the first three chapters for middle-grade and YA novels. Include a synopsis (2 pages max) for longer works.

Submission

Manuscripts must be formatted as follows:

  • Typed, double-spaced, in a standard 12-point font (e.g., Times New Roman).
  • Include page numbers and the title of your work in the header of each page.
  • Save and submit your document as a Word file (.doc or .docx) or PDF

Submission Method: Email your submission to submissions@cascobaycelticpress.com. Use the subject line format: “Submission: [Title of Your Manuscript] by [Your Name].” Attach your cover letter and manuscript in a single document. 

    Response Time

    We carefully review each submission and strive to respond within 8-12 weeks. Due to the high volume of submissions, we are unable to provide individual feedback on manuscripts that are not accepted. If your work is a good fit for our list, we will contact you with next steps. 

    Important Notes

    • Simultaneous Submissions: We accept simultaneous submissions but ask that you notify us immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere.
    • Previously Published Work: We consider previously published works on a case-by-case basis. Please include details about prior publication in your cover letter.
    • Rights: Authors retain the copyright to their work. If accepted, we will discuss terms for publication, including royalty rates, distribution, and marketing support.
